I recently purchased a M&P Shield in 9mm and was having a little trouble with the really stiff slide. After a little internet research, I decided to try your recoil assembly. After only a couple of days, I received your stainless steel guide rod and installed it. I immediately noticed a lot easier slide rack! Everything works easier. With about 100 rounds down range, there were no malfunctions. I tried range ammo and self-defense loads. Everything works! My niece is also going to buy one for her Shield. Thanks for a great product and prompt service!

I can’t remember the last time I was impressed enough to review a product. But this product is that good! First the issues with the stock guide rod and spring in my S&W M&P Shield 9mm: slide would not consistently hold open on the last shot, then it would not hold open at all, then I could not even lock it back manually; almost impossible to open the slide without 3 hands, then the slide froze; got it open and apart and could not easily reassemble it; then the captured spring separated from the slide and that was that. With less than 100 rounds through the gun!!!!!
This guide rod/spring fixed all those issues. Runs like butter. Ran 10 magazines with no issues. Disassembled and reassembled no problem.
STAINLESS STEEL GUIDE RODS got it right! If you own a Shield do yourself a favor and buy this rod. Maybe S&W should too.

I am certainly impressed with this recoil spring in my S & W Shield. Much easier to rack the slide and everything operates as smooth as butter. Do yourself a favor and replace that terrible original recoil spring with one of these!

I received a guiderod that would not work. One phone call is all it took to have a replacement on the way. The replacement works perfectly. Easily some of the best customer service in the firearm world.

It’s supposed to weigh a lot more being solid stainless steel, but, it actually only weighs 2.5 grams more. The SS has a large stainless steel washer holding the spring in place, unlike the original that the spring keeps wanting to come over the end. The other end that sits in the concave of the barrel is a lot thicker. Not paper thin like the other. The original in one pic is circled and seems to not even be straight compared to the one piece stainless. The first thing I noticed after installing was how much easier it was too rack the slide. I put 10 rounds of Federal in it and found the recoil to be a great deal less. It’s an upgrade that I now understand why a lot of folks are getting one. For less than $40 it’s one of the best things I’ve done.

This guide rod turned a good pistol into a great pistol. Now my wife can use it because the slide is smoother and easier to rack. It shoots just the same if not better. Highly recommendeded…

I had the same problems as everyone else, stiff slide… But after replacing the guiderod/spring everything ran so much smoother. I used to have to rack it back as hard and as fast as I could just to get through the spring weight. Now there’s no struggle at all. Perfect solution

This Stainless Steel Guide Rod for the Smith&Wesson M&P 9 is awesome! My Shield was to charge, but now it charges easier and operates flawlessly!

I purchased your guide rod/spring assembly for use in my Shield M2.0 9mm. You have a single spring vs. the OEM spring-within-a-spring. Your device worked well with 119 gr and 124 gr FMJ ammo. However, with American Eagle 147 gr FMJ flat points, many misfeeds occurred. Switching back to the OEM spring eliminated the misfeeds from the same magazine. Switching back & forth gave consistent results. The flat points seem to need the stronger spring.

    *****
I really like this Guide Rod. First just because its new from factory any Firearm and Part, “Clean Them Before You Use Them”. I ran a Qtip with a little oil thru the spirals of the flat spring. Try it, a clean part is a working part. Placed the Guide Rod as center and balance in S&W M&P Shield M2.0 (3.1 inch barrel). Ran Sig Elite 115gr FMJ, Sig V-Crown 124gr, and Federal Train & Protect 115gr Versatile HP all put together about 41 rounds. No Problems. This spring worked Excellent. The recoil felt like my Beretta 92FS Italian. When I finished I checked the Recoil Spring. The top head that fits under the barrel did have marks and scratches, to be expected. The same marks on the original factory Guide Rod, but the exception is the fact the factory Guide Rod had about 200 rounds and this new Guide Rod had only 41 rounds. I give this Guide Rod 5 Stars. This Guide Rod works great and Less Recoil making an improvement in accuracy.

    5 stars all day.
Great product. Have heard of people getting 6000 rounds out of one before even wondering about the life span. Great product at a great price!!
